What Joe did
- Built the rear sleeping platform as two wood boxes.
- Offset the boxes to work around the wheel wells.
- Reserved a slide-out cubby for a Dometic CFX 65W cooler and room beside it for a future kitchen.
- Made plywood tops as hinged storage lids.
- Mounted the framework and closed it with plywood.

Tools Joe used
Nothing in this video.
Tips and mistakes
- Joe used simple square boxes instead of complex wheel-well angles.
- He planned infrequently needed camp items for storage under the mattress.
- A hailstorm interrupted the build and damaged exterior panels.
For my build
- Nathan’s note: reserve dedicated space for batteries and off-grid equipment instead of assuming Joe’s cooler cubby fits.
- Nathan’s note: use flip-up storage for equipment that does not need daily access.
