What Joe did
- Built a front dinette with storage and a drawer under its seats.
- Used a table mechanism so the table lowers into a bed position.
- Changed that mechanism with shelf brackets after its arm projected past the tabletop.
- Installed vinyl plank flooring.
- Added front cabinets that will distribute 12-volt and solar wiring.
Numbers
| What | Value | Where in the video |
|---|---|---|
| Seat supports | two-by-twos | “these two by twos right here” |
| Table leg tubing | 1 inch | “one-inch aluminum tubing” |
| Table brace | 1¼ × 8 inches | “inch and a quarter by 8 inch” |
Materials and parts
| Item | Detail as Joe says it |
|---|---|
| Dinette | Plywood, two-by-twos, hinges, hydraulic-strut table mechanism, shelf brackets, washers. |
| Floor | Vinyl plank flooring with adhesive overlaps; bought at Home Depot. |
| Cabinets | Same construction and hardware as his earlier cabinets. |
Tools Joe used
- Sander and paint tools.
Tips and mistakes
- Broken adhesive tabs made some flooring unusable; Home Depot refunded those pieces.
- Joe cut off part of the table mechanism and shimmed brackets with washers.
For my build
- Nathan’s note: a convertible dinette can save space but needs a proven table-support arrangement.
- Nathan’s note: keep an accessible cabinet zone for off-grid wiring, tailored to the new plan.
